In 1996, I found myself wondering whether it was possible to create a travel service in Peru for the discerning traveller? Could we elevate travel to South America above and beyond the backpack? Design hand-crafted itineraries for individuals, families and groups of people who really wanted to discover, explore and taste Peru and South America but in comfort and style.

Marisol Mosquera, President Born in Perú and raised in Barcelona, Marisol left her job as an investment banker at Barings Bank, London to form Aracari in 1996. Her idea was to connect the discerning knowledgeable traveller in Europe, the USA and beyond with a little-known continent, introducing them to its astounding geography and rich culture. By designing upscale, intelligent travel itineraries she has “…almost single-handedly raised the profile of the country (Peru) among discerning travellers,” says Condé Nast Traveller Magazine. I decided to find out for myself, spending a year searching every corner of Peru for the most knowledgeable experts, astute guides and comfortable accommodation, from five star hotels to private country estates and charming haciendas and humble but charming sustainable one star hotels. Setting up offices in Lima and Cuzco meant that we could design flexible itineraries and implement them perfectly ourselves. While, working with our extensive network of contacts in Peruvian society, government and education we could go beyond the ‘travel tour' giving exclusive access to people and places, creating unique vacations for our burgeoning group of clients who were delighted with our approach and attention to detail in delivering a wonderful vacation from start to finish.

Today, our business has grown with the appetites of our discerning, well-travelled returning clients. Today we travel to Ecuador, Bolivia, Panama and the Galapágos Islands as well as Peru. We also work with like-minded partners who use the same detailed approach and follow the same principles, and together we travel to Argentina, Brazil and other Latin American countries.
