About Bolivia
Bolivia is the undiscovered gem of the great Andean
regions of South America, yet it has some of the most exciting scenery,
the oldest cities and the least changed populations on the continent.
Here, ancient indigenous civilisations and cultures can be appreciated
as nowhere else in South America.

A visit to Bolivia with Aracari
offers an intimate glimpse of this magnificent country. La
Paz, the world's highest capital city, is a true melting pot,
though one where native Quechua and Aymara people still prevail.
Tiwanaku, the cradle of Andean civilisation, represented the
cream of architecture, agriculture and religion in the region.

An elegant contrast is offered
by the colonial town of Sucre, with its whitewashed buildings
and palm-shaded plazas. Potosi was once the largest city in
the Americas, thanks to the silver-veined mountain that towers
above the town. Threaded with Inca roads, triple-peaked Illimani
and the giant sister peaks of the Cordillera Real, it offers
endless trekking possibilities. The pristine tropical forests
that inspired Conan Doyle's "Lost World" and the
Daliesque salt pans and coloured lagoons which fringe the
Atacama desert are all just waiting to be explored.
