The Central and Southern Sierras
in Mainland Ecuador

Haciendas

The Andes in Ecuador are lush and the valleys wide, making it perfect horse country. Local populations and their crafts, and a very varied landscape make it the perfect setting for a few days exploration and adventure. To make the destination even more exciting, accommodation while touring the region is in comfortable, lovely and charming haciendas still family owned and run. This region of Ecuador is dotted with some of the most remarkable privately owned haciendas anywhere in the South American Continent. We have selected the most special ones for our itinerary.

Each of these family owned and run properties has its own style and offers personalised service, making your visit of the region a truly unique experience. One hacienda is built on an Inca Temple and overlooks the snow-capped Cotopaxi volcano, another one is Moorish in inspiration. Some are working farms, others grand estates. Some of them host superb "Quiteno" style colonial art and furniture within their walls, others impressive European period pieces.

You can visit these landscapes and stay at some of these lovely properties, by vehicle, on horseback or a bit of both. The Hacienda itinerary can be combined with a Galapagos itinerary or can be organised on a stand-alone basis.

A Tailor-made, one week hacienda to hacienda by vehicle with a few days or occasional horse riding,  half on horseback, for a private party of six starts from US$1500.

(Prices are per person and include full board and are based on double occupancy. Tour Conductor/English speaking guide and all equipment included)

Set departures are sometimes available. Please check. For more details on the Galapagos and Hacienda to Hacienda itinerary please email us on ecuadorinfo@aracari.com
