Casa ArequipaBoutique Hotel Located on a quiet, leafy street in Vallecito - an upscale residential neighborhood of Arequipa (7,627 feet in altititude) - Casa Arequipa was previously a neo-colonial home built for a wealthy family in the mid-20th century. During its construction, only the best quality of local and imported materials were used: these included sillar for the walls (crushed ash from surrounding volcanos), marble and mahagony for the floors, and hand-crafted wrought iron for the interior fixtures. In 2002, a native of Arequipa purchased the property together with an American writer and transformed it into a boutique bed and breakfast. Painstaking efforts were made to maintain the original features of the building, while at the same time, bathrooms were fitted into each room and other modern comforts were added. The result is an alluring mix of Old World grandeur and contemporary amenities. Casa Arequipa is a ten minute walk from the Plaza de Armas, the hub of Arequipa, which is surrounded by boldly beautiful buildings, fine dining, cafes and grand churches. This hotel can only be booked as part of an itinerary as we do not do stand-alone hotel bookings. |
