Hacienda Mallkini LodgeHacienda Mallkini is located (80km from Pucara, approx 2 hours drive). Hacienda Mallkini (4100m) is 3000 hectare estate, the largest Alpaca husbandry farm in Peru. The house where you will be staying is a new, traditionally built farmhouse with 6 double bedrooms (2 with ensuite bathrooms) lounge with fireplace, dining room, kitchen, verandah with lovely views for breakfast and lunch. A diesel generator generates energy only at night. 24 hour hot water. Activities in the farm are based on walking and horse riding to learn about the different aspects of Alpaca breeding and enjoy the unique landscape of vast grazing land and native forests. The breeding of South American cameloids was a widespread practice amongst the ancient Andean populations, but was abandoned after the arrival of the Spaniards. After then, cattle and sheep were introduced for meat and wool. Mallkini is pioneering the breeding of llamas and alpacas animals and promotes the preservation of endemic flora and wildlife (no hunting allowed in the estate) as well as the reintroduction of endangered species. All accommodations offer comfort with heated rooms.
