Suasi LodgeThis is a charming eco-lodge on a largely unknown private island located close to the Peru/Bolivia border, along the unexplored northern shore of Lake Titicaca. The 45- hectare island is uninhabited except for the Lodge. The island owner built the lodge back in 1996 with natural materials (adobe, stone and Ichu or wild grass) and with strict ecological guidelines, in order to provide a sustainable income to preserve the Island as a private nature reserve. The lodge is run by a Peruvian hotel group (Casa Andina) since March 2005, and they are adding a number of features and amenities but are strictly abiding by the philosophy and ecological guidelines established by the founder and owner, Martha Giraldo. Access is via boat from Puno (3-4 hours) or by vehicle from Juliaca (3-4 hours) depending on the state of the road. For more information and photographs, please visit our Suasi Island page.
This hotel can only be booked as part of an itinerary as we do not do stand-alone hotel bookings. |
