Wakama LodgeBeach HousesWhether travellers simply enjoy an evening listening to the waves and singing seabirds; having a nap in a hammock underneath a palm leaf roof; or warming up next to a bonfire to the sound of Chincha music; an escape to Wakama will be a unique and unforgettable experience for them. Wakama has previously been listed as a top tourist destination and a natural wonder of Peru in “Guía Peru Top 100”, and is currently being remodelled.
Location: Right next to what is considered to be the first and only eco-beach in Peru, this lodge provides a wonderful environment for disconnecting and relaxing in constant contact with nature. The region around the town of Chincha is also renowned for its culture, which is heavily influenced by descendents of African slaves: food, art, music and dance all have a very distinct flavour.
Cabins: Built with Eucalyptus trunks and palm leaf roofing and painted in exotic colours, the 21 rustic cabins are designed for 4, 6, 8 and 12 people and include a living and dining area with a sand floor. As well as having comfortable beds, they are equipped with ample facilities: electricity, gas stove, kitchenware, a barbecue and drinking water. The distribution of the cabins is determined in such a way that ensures privacy, yet always ensuring access to the unspoilt coastline. Umbrellas, awnings and hammocks overlooking the sea are at hand to soak in the sunshine, which is most prominent from November to May.
Activities: To fully enjoy the relaxing environment in the company of friends, family or fellow travellers, there is a camp and campfire area, ideal for stargazing. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking, bird watching, jogging, mountain biking, and fishing. Water sports are monitored by a lifeguard with jet-ski! Guests will no doubt be tempted by an assortment of possible activities: an outdoor massage, a spot of horse riding, yoga classes, visiting a nearby ecological farm and even having wakameñas braids put in. There are also various games to keep the kids occupied.
Restaurant: The Sol y Luna restaurant has some delicious and fresh seafood, including many Peruvian favourites such as Ceviche, Tiradito, Tacu Tacu and Causa Rellena, and there are other options for those not enthusiastic about the bounties of the South Pacific. Other restaurant options are located nearby, and a health center, Mini Market and Chapel are also within the vicinity. |
