The 7th International Festival of American Renaissance and Baroque Music Chiquitos Missions, Bolivia, (24 April-5 May 2008)
Perhaps it was the wildly beautiful setting of the remote tropical lowlands of eastern Bolivia that inspired the Jesuits to surpass themselves in more ways than one. The Chiquitos Province is famous for the six mission churches they founded in the 17 th Century, but it wasn't until the Swiss architect Hans Roth began to renovate them in the 1970s that a treasure trove of Baroque musical compositions was recovered. Once upon a time, the Swiss-born Canadian filmmaker, author and adventurer Bernard Weber had a dream – which unlike most of ours, he acted upon. In 2001, he created a Foundation with the aims of contributing to the protection of the world's human-built and natural heritage and to foster respect for the cultural diversity of our planet. The first step towards achieving these? A bid to promote and engage this concept globally with a unique challenge to identify the ‘new seven wonders of the world'. Read more.

Many thanks to those of you who have already very kindly donated to our Earthquake Appeal, which we set up soon after the devastating 7.9 strong earthquake hit Southern Peru on 15th August. After much consideration we decided to send the funds to our dear friends at the Hacienda Arona estate in Cañete and here we update you of their progress so far. Read more. September 2007
