Follow this up by tasting the best that the city has to offer choosing from its wide range of speciality cuisines of Italian, Japanese, contemporary Brazilian and barbecue.
When you've had your fill it's a three hour comfortable drive to Paraty, a pretty colonial town nestled between the mountains and some of the most stunning coastline in Brazil. Once the premier port for gold export in the country, today Paraty is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with fascinating architecture, a vibrant nightlife and hundreds of tiny islands which you can explore on a private schooner. Stay in a lovely pousada before moving on to a private villa at Angra, or driving a short distance to Rio de Janeiro.
