Eye on Brazil

Eye on Brazil

“Brazil has rediscovered itself…”

and it's not just its President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva who thinks so. The largest country in South America has always been a land of contrasts – the rich Amazonian rainforest versus the thrilling, vibrant excitement of the cities – but today it has found a new equilibrium which is attracting visitors from all over the World.

The fifth largest country in the world has many diverse attractions to offer, but at Aracari, with our eyes firmly fixed on your requirements – we are focusing on luxury. A visit that adds a relaxing dimension to a trip to Peru or the Galapagos Islands, or simply a luxury break in itself.

Taste the diverse flavours of Brazil on this seven day trip to three different destinations.

Your first stop is the fashion design capital of South America, São Paulo. This cosmopolitan, vibrant city has a strong cultural, arts and musical and gastronomic heritage. To see the best of the city specialist guides – experts and scholars in their fields – will take you around the museums and galleries. Follow this up by tasting the best that the city has to offer choosing from its wide range of speciality cuisines of Italian, Japanese, contemporary Brazilian and barbecue.

When you've had your fill it's a three hour comfortable drive to Paraty, a pretty colonial town nestled between the mountains and some of the most stunning coastline in Brazil. Once the premier port for gold export in the country, today Paraty is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with fascinating architecture, a vibrant nightlife and hundreds of tiny islands which you can explore on a private schooner. Stay in a lovely pousada before moving on to a private villa at Angra, or driving a short distance to Rio de Janeiro.

Angra is a favourite destination for the Brazilian sophisticates who come for beautiful setting - the crystal-clear turquoise water and scattering of small islands, framed by high mountains covered in dense Atlantic forest. A five day stay at a private, beach-fronted luxury villa with several en-suite bedrooms, is perfect for small groups and families. The handful of very exclusive villas we offer are all top of the line, beautifully decorated, with satellite TV and all the possible amenities. Explore the Bay on the 30 foot speedboat moored at the Villa, or take a paddle in a kayak. Small speedboats are available with equipment is on-site for waterskiing and wakeboarding. While you are busy enjoying yourself, a cook and housekeeper will be on hand to take care of your every need.

On to ‘A Cidade Maravilhosa', the Marvelous City, Rio is synonymous with nostalgic glamour, the spectacular scenery and, of course, the Carnival. This is a place where you can experience the real ‘Carioca' lifestyle. By all means, visit the museums and galleries with our specialist guides, but why not take a samba lesson at a renowned samba school or learn the distinctive Rio percussion style at a percussion school? There is only one place to stay in Rio and that's the Copacabana Palace, the only Orient Express run hotel in Brazil. Whereas the infamous Copacabana beach has lost some of its lustre, this has all the hallmarks of a top class hotel.

If you are looking for an adventure, but not at the expense of luxurious accommodation and exquisite cuisine, we can arrange a five day cruise on a beautiful yacht built for pleasure and privacy. Ranging from five to eight cabins, some of the yachts have a jucuzzi, sauna and a home cinema theatre on-board. You will be accompanied by a specialist guide, a host, a chef and of course the crew.

Spend your days exploring trails deep within the forest, visiting areas and communities that can only be reached by boat, and dining by candlelight on a secluded beach. You can charter a hydroplane for a magical airborne view of this amazing land, or hire a one of the best chefs in Peru to accompany you. You can even try (or chance) your hand at piranha fishing.
