If trekking conjures up images of heavy backpacks and dried rations, think again. At Aracari we run our own trekking operations and have spent the last decade honing the perfect luxury trekking experience complete with all of the comfort, cuisine and facilities you would expect from a five star hotel.

We have a wide spectrum of treks to suit all ages and abilities – from a one day trek to the ruins of Pisac to a weekend trek to Machu Picchu, or a nine day trek to the lost city of Vilcabamba. There are many other family, festival and other types of Peruvian and Bolivian treks to choose from, or we can craft a trek just for you.

Excellent guiding, support and service

Unusually in trekking circles, we have worked with the same guides, porters and chefs for many years. Hailing from the Andean village of Patakancha, we treat our team well because they offer you the best possible service, from delivering a freshly brewed cup of coffee to your tent first-thing, to dusting off your backpacks at the end of the day. Nothing is too much trouble.

First-class equipment

With comfort paramount, we invest in top-of-the-range equipment: Eureka tents, mountain hardware polar guard sleeping bags and pillows on therm-a-rest mattresses. There are separate toilet tents, dining and cooking areas.

Hearty and healthy cuisine

All our food is made from scratch on an Aracari trek. We carry the eggs, the chickens for example… and our chefs have undergone intensive training in Lima to prepare hearty and healthy cuisine for you. A dash or balsamic vinegar and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese – it's all about the details.

Extra special touches

At the end of a day of trekking how about sipping a cocktail in a natural thermal spa, or having a bowl of warm water delivered to your tent after you finish your walking for the day. In our opinions, it's these extra special touches that make all the difference.
