‘Tis the season: Gift giving in Patakancha

In the spirit of the holidays, Aracari just returned from a gift-giving trip to the village of Patakancha set high in the Sacred Valley that surrounds Cuzco.

There’s no better feeling than giving back to a community that has given us so much over the past 13 years. For anyone who’s ever trekked with Aracari, you have been touched by this community as the porters and cooks we work with all come from Patakancha.

We were especially moved by the teacher at the local school how commutes 4 hours a day to work with these children. He proves that one person can make a difference in so many lives.

Thank you for traveling with us – you’ve helped make this Christmas a little merrier for these children.

Feliz Navidad!
