Take a look at all our treks!
Walking has always been a way of life in the Andes of Peru. The steep mountains and narrow valleys may have inspired the Incas to build extensive roads crisscrossing the ranges from North to South, East to West to keep their disparate empire well-stocked and supplied – but today walking the Andes inspires travelers in many different ways.
It inspired us to set up our own trekking operations becoming the only upscale travel company to do so, having organized treks for our clients using suppliers for over a decade. We wanted to redefine luxury trekking to the Andes. Not an over-indulgent, ridiculous scale of luxury which would not rest easy on such rugged terrain – but a personalized, authentic and sophisticated experience to give our clients a greatly enhanced view of Peru.
With some Inca ruins only accessible by foot this is just one reason why we believe that your trip will be greatly enriched by adding an element of hiking. It gives you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the landscape, to get closer to communities, their customs and the archaeological legacy of the area.
We have a number of options to choose from, for different levels of fitness, to themed treks and camping or lodge-based treks, but what separates an Aracari trek from the rest? Our brand of redefined luxury focuses on special touches and good taste in everything we do, as well giving thorough guidance from the planning stages through the trek itself:
- We always use porters from the same community: The community of Patakancha. This loyalty goes both ways, and our long-standing relationship enables them to understand and care for you properly.
- We take care of our porters and their families, giving you (and us) reassurance that your trek is ethical and based on a solid foundation.
- We take care of the minutest of details to ensure that you get the best possible trekking experience – from giving you duffel bags to put your clothes inside so that you don’t have to take your suitcases, to providing you with the latest and most comfortable camping equipment such as a top-of-the-range Polarguard ‘Moutain Hardware’ sleeping bag and a real pillow.
- Every aspect of the trek has been analyzed and improved – from the presentation of the campsite, to the freshly cooked food and the personal attention of the porters, cooks and assistants.
- Food is freshly prepared and is made from the best quality ingredients – imported olive oil, fresh herbs, excellent wine and good quality organic Peruvian coffee.
- We plan ahead so we send a set of fresh clothes to your hotel, so you can change at the end of your trek – and offer a complimentary massage so you can relax and gently return to civilization.

Why Aracari? Book a trip
“These are very few words to describe this trek. The Trek itself, the patience of the porters, the chef's better dishes than all the 5 Stars Restaurants, the birthday cake baked at altitude !! I would go on .... Then there is Miguel, he put his heart and soul into making this trek special for us without him I would not have got to the top. His enthusiasm for his country the people and its history is incredible. Miguel is so much more than a guide he truly cares, nothing is too much trouble.” Mr and Mrs Bottomley, London, England, March 2004
