2011 marks a century since Hiram Bingham first came across the ruins of Machu Picchu, and exciting events will take place across Peru to celebrate the occasion. At Aracari, we have organised a very special trip led by one of the most important writers on Inca history; Dr. John Hemming wrote the classic work “Conquest of the Incas”, which has proven to be a definitive resource in its masterful recounting of the Spanish overthrow of the Inca Empire.
Heading towards winter and we have received lots of positive feedback over the last month. Our Travel Planners Caitlin and Cristina won particular praise for their work in organising, planning and executing great Peru itineraries. Terri Lindsay said “Cristina did a great job keeping me informed and answering all my questions.” While the Mack family, adding to their comments last month, said “Aracari took care of all the details and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Our trip was planned at the very last minute. Caitlin did an amazing job of pulling everything together and creating an itinerary that was wide ranging and interesting.” Good work!
Aracari discovered during a recent visit to Lake Titicaca that the Victorian steamship Yavari has now been fitted as a bed & breakfast.
The Yavari might not be your typical idea of what to expect while visiting Lake Titicaca, but it makes an intriguing stopover for those travelling in the region, and staying onboard the ship is a very unique experience for more adventurous travellers.
