Perched on a quiet edge of Amantanti Island on Lake Titicaca, Amantica Lodge is a stylish and exclusive private two-bed villa. Amantica Lodge
This French-designed property opened in 2016. Nestled on Amantani island, you reach the villa by flying to Juliaca (the nearest airport to Lake Titicaca), driving to the peninsular and taking a short boat ride to reach the villa. As you traverse the tranquil lake waters, the villa seems unassuming from the outside. Despite being a new-build, it carefully blends in with its surrounds. When you walk inside, however, you immediately see the WOW factor of the stylish design and unbeatable views.
Private Villa
The private villa is a standalone house, with a separate building behind it which houses the kitchen. The main double bedroom is a 25 m2 suite, complete with a fireplace, panoramic views over the lake, a king size bed and TV. The master bedroom has access directly onto the adjoining ample wooden-decked patio area – also accessible via the bathroom. Here there is a spacious wooden seating area which could fit a small group. There are also a couple of chairs and bean bags to sit and take in the views. An outdoor heater keeps you warm at night, ideal for stargazing.
The second bedroom is a 38 m2 twin room with wooden panels and grey stones decorating the walls; these twin beds can be joined to create a second double. However, the two bedrooms are connected via the adjoining bathroom – both rooms have shared access. Though the toilet is enclosed within the bathroom, the villa still best suits a couple who will just use one of the two rooms, or a family that doesn’t mind sharing a bathroom. The private villa is only available for rent in its entirety – the second bedroom is closed off if not used.
The Experience
Experiences are hosted by affable Oswaldao, a local of Amantani who greets guests and introduces them to local ways of life on his island. Half day boat trips can be arranged to Uros floating reed islands, or otherwise exploration of Amantani island. Optional activities inlcuded in the cost include the likes of walking to the island’s panoramic peaks (highly recommended around sunset), trout fishing, visiting villages, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, experiencing a traditional Pachamama cremony and coca leaf reading, or taking a cooking class. The prime location also makes Amantica Lodge an ideal setting for simply relaxing and enjoying the views.
Gourmet Cuisine
The emphasis is on slow food and sourcing local ingredients to keep the exquisite fine-dining menu ecofriendly and innovative. Amantica has its own winery that produces wines and champagnes for guests to enjoy. Gourmet cusine is served in the rooms or on the terraces at Amantica. Menus can be personalized and tailored to dietary requirements with notice.
