La Paz’s first five-star design hotel is a contemporary sanctuary within the city’s most well-heeled neighborhood. This luxurious property, which opened in September 2016, sets a new standard for luxury in La Paz.

Housed in a modern Conanche stone fronted parallelogram-shaped building in the lively Zona Sur neighbourhood, its location benefits from a lower altitude and slightly milder climate.

There are 53 rooms across six floors, with an average size of 25 square meters. Each floor represents a different ecosystem with interiors inspired by Bolivia’s diverse topography: Amazon, Salt Flats, Lake Titicaca, Mountains, Lípez Desert and the Valley of the Spirits. The finishings use Amazonian wood and precious Comanche stones.

On display throughout the hotel is a specially commissioned collection of art by world-renowned Bolivian artist Gaston Ugalde. This series of works ranges from installations and video, to sculpture and photography – all of which are available to purchase. The carefully curated works add an exquisite dimension to the aesthetic of the hotel and the guest experience.

The on-site restaurant, Ona, is a celebration of Bolivian traditions – with an innovative menu designed to offer fine-dining with fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingedients.

The top floor houses an elegant roof terrace boasting panoramic city views an infinity pool and jacuzzi. Also on the roof is +591 Bar manned by award-winning mixologist, David Romero, who joins the Atix team from one of the world’s leading restaurants, Restaurante Central, and has developed a bespoke cocktail menu inspired by Bolivia’s contrasting regions.

An urban spa comprising a gym, steam room, sauna and massage room, is located on the seventh floor.
