Owned by a local company and the native community of Infierno, Posada Amazonas is located two hours (one hour by land and one hour by boat) from the nearest town, Puerto Maldonado. The lodge was built combining traditional native architecture and materials with modern, low impact eco-lodge technology. The lodge counts with 24 classic rooms and 6 suites, all of which have private bathrooms with hot water for warm showers and mosquito netting for beds. There is electricity in the common areas until 10pm with kerosene lamps and candles available for the night, and a 110V generator is turned on once a day to recharge batteries for guests or lodge facilities. There are a variety of activities to keep your agenda full: giant river otters at an oxbow lake; macaw viewing at a clay lick; a canopy tower and an ethno-botanical trail.
