Luxury Travel GalapagosWhere to go
The Galápagos Islands are made up of volcanic terrain, starkly beautiful coastlines, and remote ecosystems unlike anywhere else on Earth. But it’s the wildlife that defines the experience, endemic species that have evolved in isolation and remain remarkably unafraid of human presence.
What makes the Galápagos so fascinating isn’t just the species themselves, but the way they’ve adapted to each island’s unique conditions. Even neighboring islands can host entirely different animals, behaviors, and ecosystems.

Luxury Travel GalapagosWhen to go
The Galápagos Islands are a year-round destination, but both weather and wildlife activity vary by season. The islands have a subtropical climate influenced by the Humboldt and El Niño currents, which shape both land and sea conditions.
From December to May, the weather is warmer and the seas are calmer. Days are sunny, with temperatures in the upper 80s°F (around 31°C), and the ocean is warm, ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
From June to November, the Garúa season brings cooler air, misty mornings, and more cloud cover. Air temperatures range from the upper 70s°F to mid-80s°F (25–31°C), and the sea is cooler, around 68°F (20°C). This is a particularly active time for marine wildlife.
While the climate remains relatively mild year-round, the best time to travel often depends on what you hope to see. Whether you’re timing your visit for nesting birds, active penguins, or calm snorkeling conditions, we’ll help you plan accordingly.
Luxury Travel GalapagosOur unique experiences
Cruising is one of the most immersive and rewarding ways to explore the Galápagos. At Aracari, we offer a handpicked portfolio of luxury yachts, catamarans, and expedition vessels, each carefully selected for comfort, expert guiding, and environmental responsibility.
Cruise durations range from three to eight days, though we recommend a minimum of five to fully appreciate the variety of wildlife and landscapes. Longer itineraries allow access to more remote islands and a wider range of species. Many cruises begin on one island and end on another, maximizing your time in the archipelago.
Most departures follow fixed routes approved by the Galápagos National Park Authority, ensuring sustainability and controlled visitor flow. Onboard naturalist guides all certified experts in island ecology lead twice-daily excursions by foot, kayak, or snorkel.
We also arrange diving cruises for certified divers, visiting the legendary sites of Darwin and Wolf, where marine biodiversity is at its most dramatic. For families, select vessels offer dedicated child-friendly programs with specialized guides and activities.
Luxury Travel GalapagosOur Curated Selection: Accommodation in Galapagos Islands
The Galápagos offers luxury hotels, lodges, private villas, and tented camps for travelers opting for a land-based experience. Choosing to stay on land allows greater flexibility for touring, compared to cruises, which operate on fixed schedules with early-morning excursions.
Land-based travel tends to suit families with younger children, offering a more relaxed pace. Excursions to nearby islands and wildlife sites are made by boat, while allowing guests to return to the comfort of a single base each day.
We’ve personally tried and tested every property we recommend, and use our first-hand experience to design tailor-made trips that suit your travel style and interests.
