This accommodation is highly recommended by Aracari Travel

Clinging to the cliffs of Antanuca Mountain, deep in the Andes, are the Vertical Sky Luxury Suites. One of Aracari’s most recommended hotels in the Sacred Valley, a stay here offers an unforgettable experience for those seeking a luxury adventure holiday to Peru.

Opening its doors in 2021, Vertical Sky Luxury Suites are a feat of engineering at 3,300 meters (10,800 feet) above sea level. Once guests arrive at the hotel’s reception, they will begin the 30-minute hike across the mountain to reach their sleeping quarters and the property’s restaurant. Comprising seven different suites, the cleverly constructed glass domes and capsules are fixed to the landscape, perfectly positioned to give guests a sweeping vista of the magnificent Nev Veronica mountain and the surrounding Valley.

The team here has been careful to adhere to sustainable practices too. Water and energy on-site are all conserved as much as possible, waste is properly recycled, ingredients are seasonal and sourced from the surrounding area, and the people who work here are local, many of them walking to work from the neighboring village communities. Reforestation is also a key consideration of the founders, with each guest invited to plant a tree, commemorating their visit in a way that will help to ensure the future of this delicate, high-altitude eco-system.

A stay at Vertical Sky Luxury Suites is ideal for a luxury family vacation to South America, especially for those traveling to Peru with older children and young adults, or could even be enjoyed as part of an adventurous honeymoon to Peru. Zip wires, a suspension bridge, and a unique adventure circuit are all part of the exhilarating experience for those who visit.

The Rooms

Vertical Sky Luxury Suites offer two different types of sleeping accommodation: the lower Domo suites and the higher Capsule Suites. Both are made with strong tempered glasses, creating panoramic views out onto the Valley from the most privileged of vantage points. Each suite can comfortably sleep two adults, although some can accommodate three if needed.

Domo (Total of 4 Suites)

Geodesic in structure, each of the Domo Suites have been tastefully decorated to give the feel of a luxury hotel despite its unique, remote location. There are comfortable double beds and private bathrooms stocked with premium organic products. Each also has a private terrace, where guests can witness the flight of Andean condors by day, and breathtaking constellations by night.

Capsule Suites (Total of 3 Suites)

Suspended from the cliff face itself are the Capsule Suites. These cozy sleeping spaces are equipped with all the luxury amenities of a 5* hotel, including a Jacuzzi bathtub found in the private en-suite bathroom.  Each of the Capsule suites also has a private terrace, where guests witness the flight of Andean condors by day and breathtaking constellations by night.

The Kitchen

The onsite restaurant, Kuntur, pays tribute to the ancestral food of the Andes, whilst adding a gourmet touch. The cuisine is diverse, with many of the ingredients sourced from the hotel’s organic garden and the surrounding valley. Inside the restaurant itself, dinners can enjoy uninterrupted views of Nevado Veronica, known in the Andean language of Quechua as Waqaywillki (Sacred Tear), as well as Cachicata mountain, where an ancient Inca quarry opens out into the Sacred Valley and marks the beginning of the world-famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. There is a bar too, serving signature cocktails showcasing the flavors of the Andes, such as quinoa, chicha Morada, muña, and airampo.

The Location

Vertical Sky Luxury Suites is reachable via a 90-minute drive from the city of Cusco, and a 30-minute drive from Ollantaytambo. Nestled into the foothills of the Apu Antanuca Ollantaytambo on the banks of the Vilcanota River the suites are positioned at an altitude of 1,300 meters (4,300 feet).
